From 2001-2007, until I stepped down, I was elected Chair of the Soil Association, Britain’s pioneering organic food and farming not-for-profit organisation. I continue to be a director.

Green & Black's first bar, Maya Gold, was the first ever recipient of the Fair Trade mark in 1994 and I continue to be closely involved in this organisation.

I was formerly the Chairman of Slow Food UK, a global, grassroots organisation with supporters in over 150 countries around the world that links the pleasure of food with a commitment to the community and the environment.
